¡Altérate! – Alter yourself!

¿Aún os estáis recuperando de tanto exceso navideño?

Mientras vamos cogiendo la rutina -poco a poco, no nos vayamos a cansar- os cuento en qué va a consistir mi taller en la jornada de Art Mesa 2012.

¡Altérate!. Taller mixed media – Altered art.
M. Carmen Sánchez – Cuchy – Sábado 23 de junio de 2012 – 16.00 hs.

Haremos un objeto alterado para guardar una colección de ATCs de técnicas que también haremos en el taller.
Cuanto más rápido trabajemos, más tarjetas haremos  
Entre los materiales que vamos a utilizar, contaremos con cera de vela, papel tissue decorado, plástico transparente, polvos de embossing, acrílicos,  troqueles y plantillas de relieve de la bigshot, plástico de burbujas, vamos a planchar (si, si, con la plancha de casa) y alguna que otra cosilla y como siempre, nos ensuciaremos mucho.

Nathalie nos enseñará su proyecto a la vuelta del CHA para contar con todas las novedades de la feria. Os tendremos informadas.

Anímate y recuerda que tenemos una oferta por pronto pago que prorrogamos hasta el día 29 de febrero (que para eso este año es bisiesto). Si antes de esa fecha compras los dos talleres, tendrás un descuento el 10% y pagarás sólo 90 €

While we’re -step by step- trying to get into the routine again, let me show you my workshop for Art Mesa 2012 

Alter yourself! Mixed media workshop – Altered art 
M. Carmen Sánchez – Cuchy – Saturday June, 23rd 2012 – 16.00 hs. 

We’ll create an altered object which holds a variety of ATC’s with lots of techniques, that we’ll make also in the class. 
Among the “dirty” materials we’re going to use, we have candles, patterned tissue paper, film plastic, embossing powders, acrylics, folders and dies for BigShot, bubble wrap… we’re going to iron our supplies (yes, with the iron you use at home), and as always, we will get dirty. 

Nathalie will show her project once she comes from CHA with the latest news of the Fair. We will keep you informed. 

Come on, join us in this creative and funny day and remember that we have an early bird offer, that we extend until february, 29th (taking advantage of the leap year). If you buy both workshops before that date, you will have a 10% off, so you will only pay 90 €

Un año más con nuevos talleres, nuevas técnicas, nuevos productos y la misma ilusión de siempre con Nathalie Kalbach y Cuchy.

Rob, desde Australia, ha tomado la foto  Treasured Books como elemento principal para alterar la portada de un viejo libro.

Incluso ha tenido el detalle de poner un trocito de diccionario inglés-español.

Rob, from Australia, used the  ”Treasured Books” pic as the main element to alter an old book cover.

She even used a piece of an English-Spanish dictionary. A gorgeous detail.

Y tú? ¿de dónde sacas la inspiración? / How do you get inspired?

Decía Picasso, la inspiración existe, pero tiene que encontrarte trabajando.

Pues vamos a trabajar.

Cuántas veces nos encontramos con ganas de hacer algo creativo y no saber por dónde empezar. “Es que no estoy inspirada”

Mira a tu alrededor. Yo ahora mismo veo la pantalla del pc, el teclado, una mesa gris, el calendario, el teléfono, archivadores y papeles y facturas por todas partes. No es muy motivador, no?

Ahora mira con otros ojos. Los colores de la pantalla, la cuadrícula del teclado (perfecta para una página multi-foto), las fechas del calendario (para destacar ese día tan especial), los archivadores podrían convertirse en cajas u objetos alterados, la manera en que están apilados los papeles puede sugerirte un album, … Mejor ¿verdad?

A veces necesitamos un empujoncito, y otras simplemente coger unas cuantas cosas y ver qué sale.

Para cuando necesitamos ese empujón, contamos con multitud de recursos, especialmente en este mundo digital: 

Objetos cotidianos / Naturaleza / Vivencias, experiencias / Fotografías, cuadros / Trabajos ajenos / Plantillas / Música. Tanto las letras como la música./ Blogs – internet / Citas / Libros / Viajes / Anuncios

Ampliaremos y desarrollaremos todas estas opciones en el taller “más allá de los papeles” en Art Mesa, en junio.

Mientras tanto, anímate a hacer algo, cuéntanos cómo y en qué te has inspirado y déjanos un link a tu trabajo. Nos encantará verlo.

Picasso said: “Inspiration exists, but it has to find us working” 

Lets go and start working, then. 

How many times do you want to create something and you don’t know where to start from? “I am not inspired at all”. 

Have a look around you. What do you see? I see the computer screen, the keypad, a grey and boring table, the phone, the calendar, some files and docs and invoices everywhere. Not too funny, indeed. 

Now have a look with your “creative eyes”. And see the colours on the screen, the grid on the keypad (perfect for a multi-photo layout), the dates on the calendar (any special day?). The files could be boxes or altered objects. The way the papers are piled up, may suggest and album… Much better, isn’t it? 

Sometimes we only need a little prod and sometimes we only need to grab a couple of supplies and see what we come up with. 

In those cases, when we need a push, we have a lot of resources at our disposal, specially in this “digital and 2.0 world”:

 Daily objects / Nature / Our own experiences / Photos, pictures / Projects from others / Sketches / Music and lyrics / Challenge’s blogs / Quotes / Books / Travels  / Adverts

Choose one of these options and work on it. The results will surprise you. 

We will develop and have a deeper look into these options in the workshop “beyond the papers” at Art Mesa Madrid, in June.

In the meanwhile, be inspired and create something. And show us what you created. We will love to see it.

* Remarks:
